Dow will produce 25 tons of hand sanitizer for donation

To assist the population in combating the proliferation of covid-19, Aberje associated Dow readjusted the production lines of its plant in the city of Hortolândia (state of São Paulo) to manufacture hand sanitizer and donate the product to public hospitals and healthcare units in the state of São Paulo. Dow had to involve several business units of the company, in addition to having the collaboration of customers and suppliers, for the manufacturing operation.

The goal is to produce 25 tons of hand sanitizer (or 30,000 liters), of which half will be donated to the cities of Campinas, Guaruja, Hortolandia, Jacarei, and Jundiai. The volume is enough to serve nine public hospitals for three months., 18 emergency care units, 185 healthcare units, and four psychosocial care centers in the region.

“Dow understands its role in the fight against COVID-19 and has spared no effort to make the production of this item feasible. The company’s customers and suppliers cooperated for the success of this initiative. Other actions to assist the population during the epidemic should also be announced soon,” said Javier Constante, president of Dow in Latin America.

Logistics company Cesari will supply ethanol transport to the Hortolandia plant. Intertank will lend the metal containers to break up ethanol. The Toniato Group will support transportation to the indicated locations and Greif will donate the 10-liter packages.

The solidarity network goes on. Campo Limpo Plasticos will supply the packaging caps according to the performance specifications defined by Greif and Dow; logistics company EBMAC will be in charge of transporting the packages to the Hortolandia plant; and Transbueno will remove and deliver the packaging caps.

On March 30, Dow had already announced the beginning of the production of hand sanitizer in several factories in North America and Europe, in addition to the plant in Stade, Germany, the pioneer in this action. Together, the company’s plants hope to produce more than 200 tons.
